Mr. Sun is a partner at Zhong Lun Law Firm, qualified to practice in PRC and the New York State. He graduated from New York University (LL.M), SOAS of University of London (LL.M.) and China University of Political Science and Law (LL.B.). He is Panel Arbitrator of Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC), Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa (AFSA), Tashkent International Arbitration Centre (TIAC). He is also Panel Arbitrator of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC), Shanghai Arbitration Commission (SHAC), Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (SHIAC), Guangzhou Arbitration Commission (GZAC), Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA), and arbitration commissions in Shijiazhuang, Ningbo and other major Chinese cities. Mr. Sun is also Fellow of the International Academy of Construction Lawyers, Member of the Supervisory Board of TIAC, List of Practitioner of VIAC, Adjunct Professor of Law at China University of Political Science and Law, Representative of China to UNCITRAL Working Group II, Member of the ICC China Commission on Arbitration & ADR, Ambassador to the ICC Belt and Road Commission, Convener of the CIETAC Construction Dispute Expert Group, Chief Editor of China Construction Law Review, Secretary-General of the Permanent Forum of China Construction Law.

Mr. Sun has extensive experiences in litigation, arbitration and civil enforcement relating to construction, energy, finance, corporate equity and real estate. He excels at sorting through intricate facts, quickly grasping the key issues and assisting the clients in sketching out comprehensive and effective legal solution. Mr. Sun has represented clients in many significant and complicated commercial dispute cases, covering jurisdictions such as the US, Singapore, Hong Kong, Germany, Austria, Qatar, Bulgaria, Iran, Vietnam, Peru, Namibia, Ghana, Congo, Ethiopia and South Sudan. His most notable cases include: represented ED&F Man in applying for recognition and enforcement of an arbitral award rendered by the Sugar Association of London, which is a landmark case in China’s arbitral judicial review regarding public policy; represented China’s first dispute between an applicant of on-demand guarantee and the issuing bank; sit as the emergency arbitrator in the first emergency arbitration procedure in Mainland China; served as the presiding dispute review expert in the first case applying the Construction Project Disputes Review Rules of CIETAC. He has published United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation: Legislative Background and Articles Interpretation, Arbitration in China: A Practitioner’s Guide and several other English or Chinse books and articles in his field of expertise.

For his profound professional expertise and prominent advocating performance, Mr. Sun was listed as Who’s Who Legal 2021 Arbitration “Future Leaders”, awarded “2020 Top 15 Chinese Litigators” by Asian Legal Business, “Dispute Resolution Star” by Benchmark Litigation for 2019 2020 and 2021, and was recommended by Chambers Global and the Legal 500 in 2020.
