Finola O’Farrell was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1983 by Inner Temple and took Silk in 2002. She was appointed as a Recorder (part time judge) in 2007 and was appointed as a High Court Judge in England and Wales in October 2016. Since 2 March 2020 she has been Judge in Charge of the Technology and Construction Court (“TCC”), part of the Business and Property Courts based in London, although, as a judge in the King’s Bench Division, she sits across a wide range of cases, including commercial and arbitration law, administrative law, employment and criminal law.
Prior to appointment, Finola was a specialist construction Silk, with over 30 years’ experience as a leading barrister in construction, engineering, energy, shipbuilding and information technology disputes. She regularly appeared as counsel in international arbitrations throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and the Middle East and she was an accredited adjudicator and mediator.
