John Sharkey is a commercial arbitrator and mediator with particular experience in the construction, engineering, energy and related industries. John is:
- an honorary Professorial Fellow of the University of Melbourne;
- an elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law; and
- a Member of the Order of Australia.
John has sat as an arbitrator and mediator within Australia and internationally on over 80 occasions. He is co-author of “Commercial Arbitration” (Law Book Company 1986) and “Building and Construction Contracts” (2nd ed. Law Book Company 1990).

John is the former head of the Construction and Engineering division of Norton Rose Fulbright Australia and has practiced construction law for more than 40 years.
John was an inaugural board member of the Society of Construction Law Australia. He was a founding fellow of the International Academy of Construction Lawyers.
