Arent G.J Baron van Wassenaer

Arent is the owner of The Faithful Goose | Projects with Impact. The Faithful Goose is involved in assisting its clients in successfully developing projects with a positive impact in one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Arent brings to the table a background of 33 years as a construction projects lawyer with, subsequently, Houthoff Buruma, Norton Rose Fulbright and Allen & Overy. He was a co-chair of the IBA’s International Construction Projects’ Committee between 2003 and 2005. Between 2011 and 2013, he was the chair of the IBA’s Section of Energy and Environmental, Natural Resources and Infrastructure Law. In this capacity, he was responsible for organising conferences and seminars on topics such as the relation between projects and their most imminent stakeholders: affected communities, and the application of the UN Principles of Business and Hman Rights and the ILO Resolution 169.

Arent is the author of “A Practical Guide to Successful Construction Projects” which will be published by Informa Law from Routledge in June 2017. He has authored a large number of publications on topics which have to do with large projects, both in Dutch and in international publications.

Arent is a substitute judge with the Court of Appeals Arnehm-Leeuwarden (The Netherlands). He frequently acts as an arbitrator and as Dispute Board member in large projects. He sits on the board of several cultural and not for profit organisations such as Terre des Hommes The Netherlands.
